2018 Bathroom Trends - What to Look out for

Catherine Dove • Dec 29, 2017

Is it time for a change of tub?

2018 is just around the corner, and for many that means it’s time for a shake-up, for a change or a redesign. You’ve got your mind set on swapping the style of your bathroom but you’re stuck for ideas. Here at Options Studio, we understand what can make or break a bathroom. So we’ve compiled a handy blog of upcoming bathroom trends to look out for in the new year. By looking at these, you can ensure that your bathroom scrubs up nicely.

Colour

Bathrooms are no longer being confined to just all-white spaces - 2018 will see a bit of colour added into the mix. Strong, vibrant colours designed to make a statement against a monochromatic backdrop are in - muted is out. Greens, blues and yellows all help to evoke a natural feel in the bathroom, but 2018 is going to be all about that fusion of black and white. At Options, we can offer deep blacks that create striking, hard edges, which play well with the light space created by the white.

Freestanding Baths

Bathrooms are rapidly becoming more about space and the way that space is used. Showers no longer have to be rigid cubicles - 2018 is going to see an influx of more freeform showers that work in conjunction with the rest of the bathroom, giving the impression of a flowing space. Walk-in showers and wet rooms are becoming more common, while a rainmaker shower head adds a tropical feel. Combined with the open nature of a walk-in shower, this creates the essence of an near endless space.

Mixed Materials

At Options, we don’t believe bathrooms have to appear clinical and sterile - quite the opposite. In fact, a fusion of traditionally modern and natural elements is going to trend in 2018. Wood has found its place in the bathroom, able to work alongside the typical ceramic to create a powerful dichotomy. It’s a clever move, with the wood providing a warmth that contrasts well with a bathroom’s usual coldness. Whether it’s the bath, the basin or anything else that is transformed, the addition of mixed materials can help to bring an extra facet to a room.

Patterned Tiles

Tiles are going to play a big part in how bathrooms are going to look in 2018 - in particular, coloured and patterned tiles. Patterned tiles can turn an otherwise plain bathroom wall into a feature, or even a work of art that nicely compliments the rest of your room. Alternatively placing the pattern on the floor means that you can choose a more minimalist approach on the rest of the bathroom.

2018 is shaping up to be a year of stylish bathroom trends, mixing the modern with the natural while emphasising space over form. If you’re still in need of ideas or just want to get started on a new bathroom, don’t hesitate to get in touch 01344 627500.

For those who no longer wish to meet with designers in person or visit our showroom, we have created a new three-step design process which ensures you can achieve your dream bathroom without leaving your home. We feel it is important in bathroom projects that communication is clear and consistent, so that we can create the most gorgeous and suitable room for your needs and tastes. So that is why our new virtual design process has been cultivated to ensure that you are aware of all the options available to you and the choices we recommend at all times. Step One We have a new form on our website where you can send in images of your current room, including sizes and dimensions. When we receive your images, we will give you a call to discuss your requirements and what you hope to achieve from the room. Step Two Then, we'll get to work drawing up your new design using our CAD software. Step Three When your design is complete, we will give you a call to arrange a time when you can be sat in front of a suitable device; a desktop, laptop or tablet, where you can easily view the designs. During the arranged call, we will email you the images we have created, and we will discuss what we have designed, how we've designed it and how you feel about it. Then, when you're ready, we'll switch to video and give you a tour of our showroom , explaining what we have here and discussing things in further detail. Once we've come to the necessary decisions, we'll make a plan for the next step. Follow our Instagram ( @optionsbathtile ) to keep up-to-date on our latest designs, and to hear Steve talk through our design process! Ready to begin your project? Just click here to go to our form and commence with Step One!
