4 Reasons Why You Need a Feature Wall in Your Bathroom

Catherine Dove • Apr 02, 2018

Choosing the floor and wall tiles for your bathroom can be really tough – the choices seem almost endless and the variety is overwhelming. Many choose to go for a pale, sophisticated yet simple tiling design which is guaranteed to look flawless and stylish. However, considering bolder, brighter, patterned tiling will guarantee you a wow factor that you and all your guests will appreciate. This doesn’t mean you need to cover your bathroom with the craziest tiles possible; a feature wall will draw the eye, emphasise the contrasting tiles and look incredible, without coming across as overwhelming or tasteless.

1/ Texture

Combining textures in the bathroom is certain to give a contemporary and unique feel. No longer is the bathroom limited to porcelain ceramics! Stone, wood, cork and glass are just a few options, each with various textures such as glossy, matt, polished and satin. The gorgeous shower room below uses the contrast between the dark textured wood and the smooth cream tiles to have a real impact. Textured feature walls such as this add interest and originality to your bathroom.

2/ Pattern

When it comes to patterned tiles the world is your oyster. The options are endless, so make the most of it! For a truly unique and impressive bathroom, you need to be brave and select tiles that are unlike any other! At Options we can help you decide on the style and boldness of your tile choice, with our experts ensuring that your bathroom will never look dated or overstated. One of our tiles specialists supplied these incredible tiles to a renowned designer to create the perfect interior. With each tile having a different design, the possibilities were endless on this feature wall!

3/ Mosaic

The above tiling patterns is one example of a completely original mosaic, but there are a huge array of ways that you can utilise mosaicing to embody the style that you are looking for in your bathroom. From european terracotta tiling to small glossy tiles that will make your bathroom glitter, there is something for everyone. Smaller tiles such as the silver squares below can make just as much an impact as larger sizes! If your bathroom is smaller and more compact, a feature wall may not be so feasible. If so, concaves such as below can have just as much wow factor but in a smaller size.

4/ Lighting

Combine all of the above with superb lighting to highlight the impressiveness of your feature wall. At Options we pride ourselves on the variety of innovative lighting solutions we offer, from hanging lamps and back-lit mirrors to under-cabinet coloured flares.

We understand that choosing tiles for your bathroom can be overwhelming, but our experts can guide you every step of the way, from design to installation and upkeep. We have an enormous range of options for you to have a browse, so give us a ring on 01344 627500 or drop us an email to sales@optionsstudio.co.uk for more information and bespoke expert advice.

For those who no longer wish to meet with designers in person or visit our showroom, we have created a new three-step design process which ensures you can achieve your dream bathroom without leaving your home. We feel it is important in bathroom projects that communication is clear and consistent, so that we can create the most gorgeous and suitable room for your needs and tastes. So that is why our new virtual design process has been cultivated to ensure that you are aware of all the options available to you and the choices we recommend at all times. Step One We have a new form on our website where you can send in images of your current room, including sizes and dimensions. When we receive your images, we will give you a call to discuss your requirements and what you hope to achieve from the room. Step Two Then, we'll get to work drawing up your new design using our CAD software. Step Three When your design is complete, we will give you a call to arrange a time when you can be sat in front of a suitable device; a desktop, laptop or tablet, where you can easily view the designs. During the arranged call, we will email you the images we have created, and we will discuss what we have designed, how we've designed it and how you feel about it. Then, when you're ready, we'll switch to video and give you a tour of our showroom , explaining what we have here and discussing things in further detail. Once we've come to the necessary decisions, we'll make a plan for the next step. Follow our Instagram ( @optionsbathtile ) to keep up-to-date on our latest designs, and to hear Steve talk through our design process! Ready to begin your project?
