Create a Bathroom You Can Both Enjoy

Ellie McDaniel • Oct 11, 2016

Bathrooms always seem to be the most romantic room in the house in movies but that doesn’t always translate to everyday life. We often find ourselves in a design consultation where there can be rather different views on key requirements and styles. This is when we try to consider the vision of this new bathroom being a destination of peace, serenity, relaxation and yes, romance.

‘His and Hers’ Sinks

Many of us aren’t morning people at the best of times, and rushed mornings can be even worse if you’re squeezing between each other, cleaning your teeth and doing your hair under a time-limit. Separate sinks give you your own space to enjoy, whether you’re shaving or applying your make-up, you won’t be getting in the way of each other.

Deciding on a ‘his and hers’ vanity unit is also a hugely beneficial move. The individual cabinets mean personal storage space is available for each person. Put an end to rifling through make-up or shaving foam to find your products and organise it exactly how you like. Two counter top basins are another solution, as this adds extra countertop space for accessories.

Double sinks can blend with any style and size of bathroom. If you are a bit short on space, go for a double basin, or if space isn’t an issue, why not treat yourself to completely separate units. Our vanity units come in a huge variety of styles, so don’t hesitate to have a browse through our range!

Reflect on It

We all want to use our mirror space at key times so follow the his and her theme with separate mirrors based over each sink, or why not scatter multiple mirrors throughout your bathroom? Take the ambiance to another level with our backlit mirrors or go for irregular shaped mirrors for a quirky twist to your bathroom. Reflections will make your bathroom seem bigger, so there’s no limit to the number of mirrors you choose!

Decorative Storage

If towels and clothes are causing issues, try using a ladder, bamboo, a bright colour or vintage looking (whatever your style), to hang towels to dry – when it’s not being used it looks like an original piece of decor! Some funky or vintage-looking robe hooks are a must for hanging both your dressing gowns. Too many products? Try mirrored wall cabinets or inbuilt wall storage. If you’re going for a quirky look, browse Pinterest for some bathroom storage ideas, such as attaching square wicker baskets or coloured boxes to the wall as shelf storage.

Romance <3

The bathroom is a great place to unwind, so don’t forsake the romance for the practicality. Incorporate features so that you can also enjoy time with that special someone as well. Double ended baths are perfect for a couple to appreciate together. As the taps are located in the middle, both sides can have a comfortable headrest so you relax together. Another option is to integrate two shower heads into a walk-through shower, for a very contemporary feel.

We hope that these tips can help you enjoy sharing your bathroom with your partner. Get in touch on 01344 627500 or sales@optionsstudio.co.uk for advice on how to create your own perfect bathroom.

For those who no longer wish to meet with designers in person or visit our showroom, we have created a new three-step design process which ensures you can achieve your dream bathroom without leaving your home. We feel it is important in bathroom projects that communication is clear and consistent, so that we can create the most gorgeous and suitable room for your needs and tastes. So that is why our new virtual design process has been cultivated to ensure that you are aware of all the options available to you and the choices we recommend at all times. Step One We have a new form on our website where you can send in images of your current room, including sizes and dimensions. When we receive your images, we will give you a call to discuss your requirements and what you hope to achieve from the room. Step Two Then, we'll get to work drawing up your new design using our CAD software. Step Three When your design is complete, we will give you a call to arrange a time when you can be sat in front of a suitable device; a desktop, laptop or tablet, where you can easily view the designs. During the arranged call, we will email you the images we have created, and we will discuss what we have designed, how we've designed it and how you feel about it. Then, when you're ready, we'll switch to video and give you a tour of our showroom , explaining what we have here and discussing things in further detail. Once we've come to the necessary decisions, we'll make a plan for the next step. Follow our Instagram ( @optionsbathtile ) to keep up-to-date on our latest designs, and to hear Steve talk through our design process! Ready to begin your project?
