Who Said Tiles Had to be Square?

Ellie McDaniel • Nov 16, 2016

Tiles can come in a huge range of materials, textures, colours and patterns. In our showroom alone you will find limestone, marble, slate, glass mosaics, granite, metallic porcelain, matt and polished porcelain, terracotta, encaustic and hand painted tiles! However the general shape of tiles has always been considered to be a regular square. Why not try something different? Here are a few original tile ideas to get you inspired.

If you’re going to stick with rectangular tiles, make sure you get some originality in the textures and materials. These natural wall tiles are very different from the usual regular, smooth and pure tiles you find in many contemporary bathrooms. Each tile is unique and layered in such a way that they fit together perfectly, whilst protruding in various styles. Giving a rustic look to your bathroom, these tiles will create a feature wall nobody can miss!

Do you want to stick with regular, smooth squares and rectangles but create something with wow factor? Make an impression by combining them in an original and impressive way. We love the retro appearance of these glossy ebony tiles adjacent to the pure and clear white sections. Asymmetrical patterns are very popular, so don’t stick with a regular sequence of tiles- mix it up a bit! The huge contrast between the ebony and white tiles creates an unforgettable contemporary feel to this bathroom.

Last but not least are these beautiful hexagonal tiles, a huge trend for 2017. With their honeycomb-esque pattern, they echo nature, whilst still evoking a futuristic feel. With their subtle yet unmissable appearance, you can fill a whole wall with these original shapes! However, as the above bathroom proves, using hexagons combined with other patterns and textures, such as smooth marble or wood-effect porcelain, can look great too.

These original tile ideas are just the tip of the iceberg. We have so many innovative and creative ideas ready to create an imaginative and individual bathroom just for you. Get in touch on 01344 627500 or drop us an email on sales@optionsstudio.co.uk.

For those who no longer wish to meet with designers in person or visit our showroom, we have created a new three-step design process which ensures you can achieve your dream bathroom without leaving your home. We feel it is important in bathroom projects that communication is clear and consistent, so that we can create the most gorgeous and suitable room for your needs and tastes. So that is why our new virtual design process has been cultivated to ensure that you are aware of all the options available to you and the choices we recommend at all times. Step One We have a new form on our website where you can send in images of your current room, including sizes and dimensions. When we receive your images, we will give you a call to discuss your requirements and what you hope to achieve from the room. Step Two Then, we'll get to work drawing up your new design using our CAD software. Step Three When your design is complete, we will give you a call to arrange a time when you can be sat in front of a suitable device; a desktop, laptop or tablet, where you can easily view the designs. During the arranged call, we will email you the images we have created, and we will discuss what we have designed, how we've designed it and how you feel about it. Then, when you're ready, we'll switch to video and give you a tour of our showroom , explaining what we have here and discussing things in further detail. Once we've come to the necessary decisions, we'll make a plan for the next step. Follow our Instagram ( @optionsbathtile ) to keep up-to-date on our latest designs, and to hear Steve talk through our design process! Ready to begin your project? Just click here to go to our form and commence with Step One!

Safe to say we are following the latest government guidance closely and as such we recommend contacting us to arrange an appointment to come in.
